Entertainments

There will be entertainment available on each evening of BiCon. It's early days yet, so we can't tell you exactly what's going to happen but this is what we have so far:

Thursday

  • A licensed bar
  • A quieter space with games available in the evening
  • An exhibition
  • A Birthday party
  • and free cake.

The party and cake is because BiCon 2011 starts on the 30th birthday of the UK bi Community. On 1st September 1981 The London Bisexual Group met for the first time. It was this group which three years later ran the first "Politics of Bisexuality" conference – the event which was later to become BiCon. 2011 will be the 29th BiCon and, even though it's changed a lot over the years, we think we deserve a cake (and possibly also jelly and ice cream and a paper hat.)

Friday

  • A licensed bar
  • Dancing with BiCon DJs
  • A quieter space with games available in the evening
  • … and more – watch this space!

Saturday

  • A licensed bar
  • Dancing with BiCon DJs
  • A quieter space with games available in the evening
  • The BiCon Ball: Deco-dance – Cos It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing!

We have taken the years 1919 – 1939 as our inspiration for the Ball. It was an era when societal norms and rules were challenged. It’s the era of Jazz, Hollywood Glamour, of speakeasies and dancing till dawn. For more see our news article here, and watch this space…

There's still plenty of time to get involved.

If you would like to volunteer to help with entertainments as BiCon, either by DJing, decorating the hall, lending sound equipment, or making cake, let Jules know at a email address removed – we're keen to hear your ideas…
