How to Get There

Leicester is easily accessible from many parts of the UK. Leicester University's Oadby Campus is located approximately three miles from Leicester city centre and the City Centre university campus.

The BiCon venue space is half way along Manor Road which is off of Stoughton Drive South on this map of Oadby Campus. (pdf)

The address of the BiCon venue is:
Stamford Hall
Stoughton Drive South
Oadby
Leicester
LE2 2ND

BiCon attenders remain responsible for making and checking their own travel arrangements. BiCon cannot make travel arrangements, or provide travel funding for an individual BiCon attender. This information about travel and directions is correct as of January 2011 and taken at attenders' own risk.

From Leicester Bus and Rail Stations

The 31/31A bus route passes both St. Margaret's Bus Station and Leicester London Road Railway Station every ten minutes – the fare is about £2.70 for a single. The destination bus stop is at the bottom of Stoughton Drive South which is about (750-1000m) 10-15 minutes walk up a moderate slope to the BiCon part of the venue. For further information and up to date timetables and route maps visit www.arrivabus.co.uk or Tel: 0870 608 2608

Taxis are available at a cost of approx £7 for black cabs and minicabs from the Railway Station; the bus station will be a few pounds more. BiCon recommends taxis for attenders with mobility problems or heavy bags. Please note that The University of Leicester is located on two principal sites. If you are travelling to the venue by taxi you must specify Stamford Hall in Oadby. If you only specify the University of Leicester, you will normally be taken to the city campus.

Rail

Leicester is easy to get to by train. Midland Mainline runs frequent train services to and from London St Pancras, Sheffield, Leeds and several Midland towns and cities including Birmingham, Derby and Nottingham.

Leicester London Road station is served by East Midlands and CrossCountry train services. All platforms at the train station have lifts to get onto and off the platform and into the main part of the station.

Booking a specific train will give you the cheapest fare — it is sometimes cheaper to book two singles instead of a return. You can get rail fares and times on 08457 48 49 50 or by looking at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk or http://www.thetrainline.com.

Please note that East Midland trains leaving from London St. Pancras sometimes leave up to five minutes before the listed departure time or have a large queue before the check-in gate. We advise that people using these services plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the listed departure time.
